Nurses Again Top Gallup Poll as Most Trusted Professionals
Nurses took the number 1 spot again in the annual Gallup Poll. Since 2005, more than 80% of Americans have rated nurses as having "high" or "very high" honesty and ethical standards. Nurses have topped the list since 1999, the first year Gallup asked about them – with the only exception being in 2001, when firefighters were included. (Source: Gallup, Inc., December 16, 2013)

Nurses Can Make Healthy Choices Too
Your day-to-day routine probably includes countless interactions with patients where you find yourself giving instructions on healthy living. So why not take your own advice? You will only be able to work to your full potential and give patients the best care if you are first taking the best care of yourself.
Beth Battaglino, RN, President and CEO of HealthyWomen.org, says, "In addition to their nursing work, most nurses are also caring for a family, so after a 12-hour shift, there are still household responsibilities to take care of. There is a lot of juggling. Eating well is a significant challenge because nurses often feel they don't have time to take their breaks and end up grabbing candy and doughnuts out of the break room."
