ANIA is pleased to announce the winners of a $3,000 scholarship, recently provided to three masters and doctoral-level students. Candidates were evaluated and ranked on: involvement in informatics as a profession, strength of scholarship, recommendations, work experience in informatics, and future plans as demonstrated in a goal statement essay. After reviewing a number of impressive scholarship applications, ANIA would like to congratulate the following scholarship winners.
- Athena Louisa Fernandes is pursuing her DNP at Drexel University in Philadelphia. Athena plans to work in nursing informatics and as a nurse educator upon completion of her doctorate.
- Sharon Giarrizzo-Wilson is pursuing her PhD in Nursing at Loyola University in Chicago, with a focus on informatics, patient safety, and policy. Sharon has an interest in clinician communication and the relationship with structured vocabulary.

In addition to these educational scholarships, ANIA encourages all members to attain board certification in nursing informatics by offering five winners a $200 credit toward the Nursing Informatics Certification Review Focused CE Series course, which is endorsed by ANIA and available at a discount to our members. We are proud to share the following winners’ names with our ANIA family.
