Former Board Member Tells Military Times Edge About Informatics

Patrick Shannon, MS, RN, CPHIMS, a former ANIA Board Member, left his position as a lieutenant colonel and longtime nurse in the Army in 2009. Now, as a Project Manager for the Department of Defense through TRICARE Management Activities, he's letting others know about his switch to informatics. In a recent interview, he told Military Times Edge, "You are taking care of the service member. When you put patient records in the system, and that soldier goes from Afghanistan to the Brooke Army Medical Center, you ultimately are helping all those providers to deliver better care, because you are providing better data for them."
