ANIA-CARING Region 2 hosted a Nursing Informatics reception in the Dallas-Fort Worth area on April 28th. 40 nurses interested in NI in the DFW attended at the Holiday Inn in Arlington Texas. It was a lively event, enjoyed by all, with a strong interest in nurses working together in the DFW area to network and share their experiences in Nursing Informatics. This event was held in conjunction with the NI Boot Camp led by Susan Newbold and Cheryl Parker, and hosted by Texas Health Resources this past April 28-29. "There is a growing interest in Nursing Informatics in the DFW area, and now is the time to start networking and collaboratin," says Mary Beth Mitchell, CNIO for Texas Health Resources. Brian Norris, past ANIA Region 2 Director and Curtis Dykes, past ANIA President offered to sponsor the event, which was viewed as a huge success by all. Now, going forward the Nursing Informaticists in the DFW area have vowed to keep the momentum going and are looking for ways to meet regularly in the future, possibly with both formal education events as well as informal networking events.
