2021: Year of the Nurse Continues

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared 2020 the International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife to honor of the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth and to advance nurses’ vital role in transforming health care around the world. The American Nurses Association (ANA) is joining with WHO and global colleagues in extending the Year of the Nurse and Midwife into 2021 because of the impact of the pandemic and the increased visibility of nurses’ contributions.
