Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19): Information & Resources

Federal, state, and local health officials and agencies, including the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), continue to monitor the outbreak of respiratory illness caused by a novel coronavirus (COVID-19) that was first detected in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China, in December 2019 and has since spread internationally. On January 30, 2020, the International Health Regulations Emergency Committee of the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak an international public health emergency. On January 31, Health & Human Services (HHS) Secretary Azar declared a public health emergency for the United States. On March 11, WHO declared the outbreak a pandemic.
